Voyeurism

Voyeurism

54″ x 72″    oil/canvas

This painting grew. Made of 5 panels the first being the bottom beating. Then the two angels were added. But what did it all mean? Unresolved, I finally saw the chapel tympanum at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. From above the arch doorway, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John looked down at me.

They became the inspiration and resolution of my wall piece. They became the Voyeurists, all of us, fascinated with violence – some are appalled, some can hardly bare to look, some are sneering on the violence. All are unable to turn away and renounce this passion except for the angels. Because of its size the painting is badly photographed, (54″ x 72″) yet I wanted to include it in my presentation.
