Elijah, discouraged, resigned to failure, alone among men, sat down in his cave to pray. In the silence he questioned the purpose of life and asked for guidance. And the protecting silence spoke, calling him forth to new beginnings. It is often in the silence that we can hear what is given and what we need: peace, belonging, courage for the doing of our next challenge. That inner world has its own wisdom, if we are confessing souls with benevolent hearts.
