On the Wine Dark Sea
36″ x 48″ oil/canvas
A pictograph of the self’s pilgrimage shows symbols of a storm-tossed boat, our fellow comrads, the confrontation with the moral dilemmas that will determine our character, and the search for wisdom. Homer imagined this journey as a voyage on the “wine dark sea,” a description of the vast ocean upon which we, facing the setting sun, will ride.
